LawBreakers

Lawbreakers is a first-person multiplayer shooter designed by Cliff Bleszinski and his studio Boss Key Productions . My role with this amazing project was a bit unusual, but a lot of fun for me. The artists at Boss Key had already created the real-time characters. Nexon America, the publisher, had also contracted with an agency to create high-res versions of these characters for use in marketing key art as well as other uses. What I was contracted to do initially was to evaluate the high-res assets and see what had to be done to make the characters render-ready for rendering in Maya with V-ray.

Once this was done, I was asked to fill in the gaps in the models, textures and shaders, and then pose and render several characters for marketing key art that Nexon would use in their campaign to promote the game. Along the way the rendering shifted from V-ray and the high res assets to Marmoset Toolbag. The images below are captured from the Lawbreakers website and contain a few of the elements that I posed and rendered. Creating marketing artwork is always fun and I enjoyed working with the folks at Nexon and Boss-Key to get this done.

Cronos and Hellion, two of the Lawbreakers characters. These renders were created by rendering elements, which gave the illustrators complete control over the appearance of the renders. This gave them plenty of lattitude and flexibility.
